Nobody ever said folk music was easy and it certainly isn't always dulcet on this stark release from Poland's premier folk innovators. But when you can get past the occasionally strident singing, songs like "Polka From Sieradz Region" and "Matthew" yield the kind of raw, unadulterated power that's so interesting, you'll forget you're not supposed to like it.
