Whitney Duncan

About

Scotts Hill, Tenn., native Whitney Duncan sings with the sort of bluesy rock voice that comes from a rural upbringing punctuated by a teenage obsession with Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and John Mellencamp. She started singing at age six, and by 19, she had picked up a guitar and set her sights on Nashville. But, first, Duncan had to learn the art of being a true country artist. As a young girl growing up in a small town, Duncan sang in church, local talent shows, fairs and festivals. At 14, she traveled to Paris with a group of young singers to perform at the Notre Dame Cathedral and Disneyland Resort Paris. All this would prepare her for a future in country music. It wasn't long before she landed a record deal and headed to Nashville to begin recording her good-time, rock 'n' roll-influenced brand of country.
