Taking its name from soul and Calypso, Soca is probably the Caribbean's second most popular musical export, after reggae. Artists hail from all over the region, from the Bahamas in the north, to Trinidad in the south. Soca developed in the 1970s and features electronically enhanced, heart-pounding Disco beats and party-down lyrics.
