Description of French Pop

As if the language of love isn't gorgeous enough when spoken, imagine how it sounds when sung. Like the sparkling wine named for the French region of Champagne, French Pop is light and effervescent, but by no means inconsequential. French Pop's roots are in the 1960s Euro-Pop of big stars like France Gall, Francoise Hardy and Serge Gainsbourg. Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin went off-screen and into the recording studio, inspiring a multitude of sexy-voiced singers to follow. Current prominent French Pop artists include the retro-futurist bands Air, Auteur de Lucie and Stereo Total.
