It's hard to believe that this is only Wynonna Judd's seventh solo album -- the woman has been making music for 25 years! Sing - Chapter 1 encompasses a variety of genres: blues ("Women Be Wise"), country ("Are the Good Times Really Over"), rock ("I Hear You Knocking"), soul ("Ain't No Sunshine") and pop ("Anyone Who Had a Heart"). As diverse as it seems, the songs mesh well with each other. Wynonna has the sass to make all of these songs her own, but the torch-song nuances of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and the rounded edges on "Women Be Wise" transcend.
