Young Love

If the Killers of 2004 had toned down the eyeliner and admitted their kissing cousin affinity to boy bands and pop punk, they might've sounded a lot like Young Love. Problem is, eyeliner's way out, ironic moustaches are in and neo-Springsteen is the new neo-new wave in 2007 -- and nobody gave Young Love the memo. Luckily, they've got the three E's: energy, earnestness and emo(tion). "Closer to You," for example, makes sweet, sweet suburban love with all the painful sincerity of angsty boy rock. And "Discotech" is saved from retro redundancy (twice over) by its infectious get-up-and-go.
