When listening to :zoviet*france:, you experience intense claustrophobia and gravity as if you were at the core of the earth. Their sounds are disembodied and alienated, wandering through time without apparent direction. Tense textures sweep through space without a point of reference as if defying spatial relations. Their sound is hard to locate -- they are too abstract to be Industrial and too intrusive to be Ambient. Raw, lo-fi instrumentation and thick processed sounds are pieced together through improvisation.
